Ciao Milano!
I want to start this post by telling you about the show in Munich.
Something very strange happened to us there…
It seemed that all the bad luck and dark clouds were upon us during this concert. Never we have had that many technical problems before. Actually we didn’t have any major problems during this tour or during the Warm up Concerts last year.
The sound check went fine as it usually does.
At the beginning of the concert, I just walked to the stage and missed my first line in the song Lost Northern Star. The click that helps us and that we can hear from our monitor system was not there!
After that, it was chaos 
In some songs we heard nothing coming in our in-ear monitors, or what is even worse, we heard a double clicking that was only making us to play in a wrong tempo.
We were forced to stop in the middle of the song of I Walk Alone and to start it all over again just because everything sounded so wrong.
Computers are the best friends… when they work!
No human mistake from band or crew, just things got out of hands. Maybe some power issues or who knows what, but ghosts were playing tricks on us that night 
And when you think that nothing can go worse, there we go…
I was wearing for the first time jewellery that I got from a friend day before the concert. When I entered the stage after change over and banged my head for the first time, this jewellery flew away!
I thought, “ups” and continued singing and soon after forgot the whole thing.
But when I went to play Oasis alone with my piano, I realized that the jewellery has fallen upon it and changed the sound settings into some ridiculous electric piano sound.
As you can imagine, I didn’t notice that early enough to change it… So there I was playing Oasis with a funny electric piano sound!
And in the encores, during Die Alive, the computer decided to go crazy again leaving us in a state of chaos and shock that only made us laugh during the song. But my band is great and we pulled through it without hassle. I hope 
I think that was enough trouble for only one gig.
Anyway, the show was just great and the fans that I got to talk after the show were saying that they really liked the show.
Next day we performed in Zurich and once again we had amazing show there.
It was a sold out show and the place really felt rather too small for the people that showed up. The whole band was very happy with the crowd, so we ended up playing one more song after the normal set.
It came as a surprise for the audience as well as for the band and crew when I decided to add the song. Maria had to run to the backstage to pick up her in-ear monitors…
It was fun though.
The city of Graz is beautiful. So many old buildings and houses. I had a pleasant walk in the city day before the concert and took some photos.
Then it started to rain and it kept on going. It was challenging for us and for our fans too, who needed to wait in the rain to get in. For me it was great to have my first concert in Austria. The people were happy to see us on stage and I guess they enjoyed the show quite a lot. At least it seemed so. I wish to have another chance to return there some day soon.
Now we are in Milan starting the sound check in 5’. The crew is preparing everything ready at the moment. Find here some photos of the Sound check in Munich.
We have done half of the shows in this leg of the tour and my condition to sing is still great. I am very happy about that
I can’t wait to have fun together with the Italian audience tonight!

But it surely happens, and the fans know that it had nothing to do with you or the band.

everyone i heared told me they loved your munich show!!!

Computers sometimes go wrong, it can’t be helped. But at least you carried on with everything and still made the audience happy and enjoyed yourself

Hi Tarja. I was on the show at Zurich on Sunday and I enjoyed the show very much. I think your self-confidence as growing up till the last show 5 months ago. I saw it in your mimic and sometimes you can do very funny facial expressions.
I`m happy that the show sold out, because in difference of the X-Tra concert this time I never see a advertisement-Poster in all the city.
I hear that a lot of people came from the french speaking part of Switzerland.
I hope the people in Milan accommodate you very cordial ,
Because I`m italian too. So I hope you can enjoy a little bit Milan.

Oiiii, shh, don’t grumble… that night was very special.
I didn’t realize most of the things which went wrong, which admittedly is not saying a lot since I’m not the most perceptive of people in the world… but the hiccup at the beginning of IWA was a good thing, even if just to prove that you guys can recover from technical difficulties. And you made the audience laugh, which is always a good thing.
Ahum, anyway, I know we all told you after the show, but if you’re still feeling gloomy about it, it can’t hurt to say it again, in case you really do read these comments – the show was amazing. Really, really amazing. There was so much life and enthusiasm from the whole band all the way through, and I couldn’t help grinning like an idiot for the entire duration of the show. Ahum. And like you said, shit happens, and life is still beautiful.

omg…. i can’t believe all the things that happened to you in the munchen concert… omg omg omg, i know what having technical difficulties is, i’ve also had problems… technical ones when singing, but mostly microphone problems… hahahah but still everyone loved your concert, i’m so sure of that…!! i see the pictures fans put everyday and they are ALL so beautiful, you sure look happy, that’s the most important thing!!!!!!! loveyouforever!

About Munchen concert…
I’m sure nobody paid much attention to technical issues, because you performance was enough energetic, your voice was clear and nice, the music was accurate and other things too, to cover this all for most of people in the hall. You speak about this all as about the failure, but these all were only small (mostly unnoticeable) technical issues. So I beg to ask you not to worry about this too much.
But if you ask “why?”… Who knows the real nature of the things… I don’t think we should find the reason among ghosts… most likely it’s closer to some living ones….
Anyway i cannot call this concert unsuccessful, only a bit… strange. I hope the things will come in order soon.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for the very exciting evening in Graz! If I known before that you gave autographs I would be to stay the whole night there at your bus!
I´m very sad about this, that I went home after the show and take no chance to become an autograph, because I saw you the first time in my life in reality and it was sooooo great – your voice, your smile – easy everything! 
When you come to Graz (or Austria) again I will wait for a autograph as promised!? Or is there any other chance to become a autograph from you by another way?

I was on Your concert in Czech Republic. It was one of best things in my life! Even, I can´t believe it now! I can´t find words, how describe my feelings. I saw emotion in your eyes and I felt emotions around me, every person in Novesta was happy. I want go back in time to 11.5.2008 to Novesta. Sad to hear that almost everything went wrong, but hey, the crowd loved your show, and sometimes when one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong, like a row of dominoes…… and it happens…. sometimes you need something to go wrong, just think that you can learn from it. don’t be sad… now you can laugh about it and don’t look back….

Hummm…solo una artista humilde a la vez que muy profesional y entregada, puede llegar a reconocer publicamente este tipo de problemas delante de sus fans…esto es una buena forma de “conjurar” a los duendecillos molestos que te hayas podido traer desde Irlanda!! (se cuenta que los traviesos pixies sienten cierta predileccion por las mujeres bellas!!), la proxima vez, dedicales un tema y veras como no te molestan mas!!!…
Espero que el resto de tu gira, este libre de “electroduendes”…un calido y fuerte abrazo diosa!!!….besoteeeeeeeeeeeeees!!!!

Hei Tarja,
Once again, thank you for the wonderful moments we all spent last week-end in Münich. It was pure emotion, feelings I won’t never forget… Eventhough some troubles happened during the gig, don’t be too much bothered about that. I guess that nobody in the crowd would blame you or the band, technical problems could occur, that’s life. It’s probably better to concentrate such kind of problems within one single concert instead of spreading them over several ! And the story with the juwellery and the piano is that funny that most of the people would rather laugh about it than being upset ! Anyway, as we told you after the show backstage, the concert was great, you’re performance amazing as usual, the band is still rocking and most important…WE LOVE YOU !!!

what a performance during the show in zurich !!! i have seen you now for the 7th time singing live and i must say this was the strongest, heaviest and most passionate show from you i have seen so far – well all of your shows have been exceptional so far. but this time you seemed even happier than usual and you did more headbanging than ever and your voice felt like thunder from the sky – with some much power and passion!
i was one of the lucky ones last year in zurich – one of your winter storm at the pre-dinner. strange but i felt you have seen me again during the show as you did last year – well, i’m tall.
do you remember the night of the gothica i was talking of in lucerne? as you can imagine it won’t happen this year but the dream is still there. however, i have another – personally – bigger project i would like to let you know. i’ll find a way i hope – unless you got my email above
by the way, i also went to the nightwish show this february in zurich. as you can imagine i was very disappointed when i heard annette singing the old songs … it broke my heart and i really don’t like the way she moves on stage – like a country music chick. anyway, no anette bashing here – the new songs were pretty much ok.
back to your show – funny, i told to my friend before the show i hope she will perform over the hills and far away – since i really like that “hiking song” and it’s not written by nightwish … (i thought, you might be not allowed to perform any original nightwish songs since you didn’t in zurich in dec, did you?). and you sang it!!! and then even wishmaster one of my other favorites. so only deep silent complete and sleeping sun was missing
and the encore after the encore – i have never seen nightwish or you doing this before. wow, respect – respect from you but also from the audience. i think it was a good atmosphere. also the band was excellent again. it’s a real all star band – literally.

Hello Tarja. I would like to know something about your shows after this Storm in Europe 2008. The show in Zlin was amazing but I would like to see you once again (and again and again…). It looks like you took the setbacks of the concert rather well, should that have happened to me, I would’ve walked off stage or had a panic attack… hahaha! Once again, you have showed you’re one classy, humble lady with enough integrity to recognize people can make a mistake or two, even though this time it wasn’t anyone’s fault but the computers, as you stated in your post.
I’m happy to hear you’re halfway through the tour and your voice still isn’t showing signs of tiredness… that’s fantastic. I hope you’re still in good shape by the time you get to the South American leg of your tour! Obras is ready to explode with you!
I hope that the computers won’t play any more tricks on you and your crew… if anything goes wrong again, go to the nearest Church, ask for a bottle of Holy Water, a crucifix and a Bible and exorcize them!! Hahaha! That should do the job!

oh lord, poor you. I’m sorry that all these problems had to happen in munich. I still hope you will keep us in good memory and do some more concerts here in future, hopefully without problems then.
still, you simply did great on the stage, no matter which problems you had. but maybe you should think about some unplugged shows, those would lessen the risk of technical problems

Oh Tarja, our perfectionist Angel, there’s no reason to be worried about the screw-ups – I didn’t even notice the mistaken lyrics, and everyone reacted so professionally that I’m sure no-one was bothered! Maria even alertly seized the occasion to shine with a little (apparently improvised) solo!
I’m so happy that you have assembled such an amazing band, and only because I couldn’t help sticking around with you, I missed getting autographs from Doug, Mike, Max, Toni, as well as Marcelo, Tommi and whoever else I could find of the ones travelling with you, haha!
Oh, by the way, I’m the strange, autograph-hunting guy with the “Viking metal” look and Symphony X shirt who gave you the memory stick as a present

I’ve been to your show in Hamburg and I was for you in the front, all the way to the left! we brought 2 white sheets with the following texts: LISA AND MARIEL FROM AMSTERDAM ARE HERE FOR YOU!! WE HAVE PRESENTS!!! and SING FOR US TARJA, OUR LITTLE PHOENIX!!!!
I was so lucky and happy to meet you after the show and Lisa and I could finally give you the presents! I hope you like them! I found the bracelet and immediately thought of you! I’ve had to buy it! I made the poem and it should be inscripted in the bracelet! but it was not possible! I was sad, but we’ve solved it to put the poem into the box of the bracelet! I also gave you my book!
I really hope you will read it someday when you have the time!
It was a fantastic show in Hamburg!! it was totally worth it! I also took some pictures!!
There was only one thing: I was not on the winners list of the tourbook but my picture is in the book!!! I already contacted Melanie about it. I thought that you did not choose one but you did and I want to thank you for it!! so THANK YOU!!!
