Flying problems!
The three shows in Mexico went really well. It was a great success and I was happy to be able to perform for Mexican people. Also it was nice to return to Guadalajara and to have great show there on my birthday. People were so kind to me everywhere. Thank you Mexico! I hope to come back soon again.
I got to tell you what happened to us on our way to Colombia though. It was really strange and scary experience for all of us. We were supposed to take a plane from Mexico City to Bogotá, which we did, BUT… first we took off one hour late. After being on air for half on hour, the captain announced that we needed to return back to Mexico City because we lost one of our engines and we were flying only with one… Well, the people were still quite calm, but it was very awkward situation indeed for everybody. We landed fine and then got to know that there were many other problems detected on the plane. They tried to fix these problems while we still needed to stay inside the plane! It took some while when finally the pilot informed us that we were not flying on the same day to Bogotá at all. We needed to stay in a hotel in Mexico City that night. The wake up call was already at 03:00 am, because the new scheduled flight to Bogotá was going to leave already at 06:00 in the morning. We woke up early and again got to the plane. We waited and waited until something strange happened AGAIN. The plane was the same than the day before, but they assured us they have fixed the problems and it was safe to fly. Anyway suddenly before taking off, all the lights went off so did the engine!!!!! Half of the people in the plane stood up and instantly started to run towards the front door. They were willing to get out of the plane! The thing is that nobody can force people to stay inside the plane if one is not willing to. SO, we who were willing still to stay, needed to wait inside while the other people left and their luggage were removed from the plane. This took again other 2,5 hours. Finally we took off and the flight was calm and safe. We arrived to Bogotá 15 hours late, but safe.
Sometimes I really hate flying. But thanks to God, we are safe.
Yesterday I got to meet many of my fans in a signing session I had here in Bogotá. I was very pleased to see many happy faces in front of me. Also something really nice happened after we had a beautiful dinner in a traditional Colombian restaurant later in the evening. There were around 7 guys waiting for me outside the restaurant and when I got out, they started to sing to me. They also had a cake with 1 candle prepared to me!!!!! I am sure that tonight’s show will be just amazing because Colombian people really are wonderful.
I’ll leave you some photos of the events I told you before. Now is funny to see the progression of our faces through the hours. It was not so funny then…

Today we got the information about very sad news from Spain where a plane crash and many people died. All the band and crew would like to send our condolences to their families.
It could have been us…
Just remind us how fragile we are and that things can happen to anyone of us at any time. So better to live your dreams every minute, every day and enjoy of the loved ones.

haha! What a bunch of brave people we have here!
It´s very good to hear nothing really bad happened at the airports and nothing in the schedule had to be postpone. It was one of my worries.
Anyway, have some nice time in Bogotá and then come to Brazil!! People are anxious over here and the rumours say that the ticket are selling well. I´m sure you´re going to have a great time in here too.

Thanks for the post and glad to know you are ok and made it in time for the signing session. I can only imagine having to spend the night at the airport and on pins and needles about making it somewhere. It is really sad to hear about the plane in Spain

If you don’t believe in God this would definitely be a good moment to start!! Thank God the engines didn’t fail while you were in the air…
And yes, stuff like this usually makes you think about how fragile life is, and how everything can be over in the blink of an eye… reminds you how short life is, and how every moment we live won’t come back and we have to make the most out of it, so that when the end comes, whenever it happens, we can look back on our lives and honestly say that we have no regrets.
Please take care, and have a great time touring… but please be safe!!

Well … when I read the title of the blog I really felt bad and worried about you and the rest of the band
, specially after what happened in Madrid. Thanks God that nothing happened and you and the guys are ok.
I don’t really like planes very much, and trust me I suffer a lot when we have turbulence or something like that and my fear became worse after an electrical storm when we was flying once over Panama, I have to admit I didn’t remain calm … I was so frightened that I fainted.
I hope that the rest of the tour continues without anymore flying problems …

Thank God, that you and the band are alive and well!
On the one hand: thank you so much to be so courageous to flight with that scanty repaired plane to reach your singning session and concert in time- the other hand- HOW INSANE to stay in that plane of which problems you new, just to set your sign under some fancards/CDs or sing for some thousands of people!!! You could have not had arrived Columbia well!!! I don’t want you to die just to be in time at an appointment. What a risk! I mean, you know that additional to the persons who know you personally and do love you- also your fans, whose inspiration and somehow also love you are- would not stand to lose you!!! I would not stand it.
I know, without risk you win nothing- and everything went well- THANK GOD! But on the other hand- better a cancelled or delayed concert than never being able to give one! Next time- please do also leave the plane!!
But THANK YOU so much to have the madness, calmness and courage to stay and fly, just to be in time! Thanks!!

PD: Avianca… como aerolínea no la recomiendo, por lo general sus aviones siempre presentan inconvenientes y fallas… y esos problemas vienen desde hace ya varias décadas, no es por nada pero “Avianca” es la aerolínea más aparatosa de nuestro país.

Oh Tarja…
How I would like to be somewhere near you that horrible moment! When I look at you face on the photo in the plain, I remember my very recent flight to France 5 days ago… There were lots of turbulency zones and passengers were sitting with stone faces, not except myself. I really hate flights, but today we have no choice. Every flight the same thoughts come to mind about how fragile is everything we maintain, build, build, build in our lives and we ourselves…
Anyway PLEASE be careful while choosing the air-company! I know you are fearless girl, but there so many accidents with these local carriers!

I just got goosflesh by watching your youtube videos of Bogotá. Such a dense and intensive atmosphere there. Wow! All these fans that are singing with you these really not-easy songs and shouting to you in every possible moment. You really can be proud on this (even if it might sometimes feel strange in quiet moments). You managed to become on a very high level of your career now! Enjoy it! Congratiolations! I am very happy for you, that your solo-career is such a success and that there are so many people who show you how much you fill themselves with enthusiasm. Hope we’ll be able to give you back what you all give for us.

First of all:
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! I am sorry, that I couldn’t do that earlier, but I was on holiday without any internet-access, so I do that now!
After I came back to Germany I heard of the bad accident that happened in Spain and I really felt, because of the fact that I was flying as well, how fast it can be over…
Luckily you guys landed save and had, though there was a lot of chaos, a great time!
I loooooooooooooooooove the live version of Dead Gardens and I really hope to see that song as well in Belgium at the Metal-Female Voices fest.

I think you were all quite brave to continue your flight with this airline (maybe there was no other choice).I would have left the plane!
There are some freaky plane incidents/accidents happening around the world at the moment. We had serious 3 incidents with our airline Qantas recently…
I have heard that with the cost of fuel rising, airlines are cutting down on other expenses. If maintenance is amongst those (seems crazy!), I don’t want to imagine what will happen in the future.
Thanks for making alive again “Dead Gardens”. Wow, Tarja singing “Symphony of Destruction”?. You are still the queen of metal!
I would love Tarja to do a cover of “The Poet and the Pendulum”. Unlikely but it would be so deliciously satisfying to hear Tarja blast Annette’s OK version. This epic song was made for a lyrical voice and its true beauty would be revealed if Tarja was interpreting it, I have no doubt…

Then this is the right story for you: Imagine you are on board of a Mexican airplane … ok for some people this might suffice already, but there is more…! lol About 30 minutes after your departure, an engine stops working – the captain anouces it and flies back to where you came from. The plane is repaired while you are still sitting inside, watching… then someone tells you that too much is broken and the flight has to be postponed. You take a hotel. At three A.M. you are taken back to the airport – it is still the same plane!!! This time both engines stop working during takeoff … people storm the the cockpit because they want to get off the plane immediately … a nightmare, isn’t it? Well, this is exactly what happened to Tarja Turunen a couple of days ago!! And she decided to stay on board… did she come out of this alright? She will tell you in person right here! [...]

It’s amazing what can happen in a few hours but thank God everything salio are all well either.
I love having contact with your fans and that they do not all artists, I must confess that you know that since the concert was announced in colombia and really I can say now that I am a fan more. Signing autographs was incleible and I am lucky because q is that many people do not achievement. And to my surprise win the meet & greet, was incleible, although I was told at the end of the concert that was no longer possible delays in the concert, nearly dying lentamete. but achievement is good and I have many photos with you, it is an honor and meet all bada, especially kiko which is a divine, if you read this some day a kiss to kiko.
I hope to see them again and buy your new album.

And all that was nothing compared what you have experienced. Stay safe. 
That does really sound like a very scary experience… Im just back home from a long flight from Mauritius to Germany myself. We had some horrible turbulences above Somalia (and imagine landing there!) and it was hard for us all to keep calm after eight tiresome hours of flight. I managed to stay OK, might be also because I listened to guess who.
PS Enough sounds really awesome.

hi tarja!! i just read what happened to you on your way to bogota and omg… that’s scary… i’m kinda a planephobic or something.. i just don’t like being on a plane but i have to everytime i travel… and i would have been too scared if what happened to you happened to me… but thank god you’re ok… actually i flew back home 3 days later this post was written and i was really scared because of the tragedy in spain but well… we HAVE to live our lives positively everyday…. i hope you have tons of fun in this next concerts and i hope i can see you someday… i would love to sing for you too…

Fue realmente un placer que regresaras a Guadalajara, fue la primera vez que te veíamos en vivo y fue una experiencia inolvidable…cuando salieron en su camioneta decíamos “ya podemos morir en paz” jeje …(por cierto, somos las dos chicas que se acercaron a la camioneta para pedirte un autógrafo)…tienes una increíble voz.
