Greetings from Toronto!
New York show was very nice beginning for this tour. Thanks to my beautiful American fans. There were also many Latin American people in the audience, so it was really lovely.
I was nervous, but all that vanished bit by bit during the show. I trust my band mates and technicians and they did great again. It is beautiful to feel the support from my band, no matter what happens and when. Nothing strange happened on that night except for few lyrics mistakes or wrong chords here and there, but as always, the first show in a tour has all the elements to make me nervous.
Now after having performed two shows already, everything is getting in the right place, as we all are where we prefer to be: on stage.
This is a photo taken just before starting the first night at The Fillmore in NY.
After the show in NY, we meet many fans and friends. Among them I met Dirk Rudolph and it was a pleasant surprise. He told me that he had enjoyed my concert a lot. Dirk was doing the artwork for My Winter Storm and I am surely going to work with him again for my next album.
We drove at night to reach Canada. Here are some pictures in the nightliner.
Now we are in Toronto, Canada. Yesterday’s show in Montreal was just amazing. People were singing, cheering and having fun. As some of you might know already, I really like the city of Montreal. I’ve been spending even some holidays there some years ago.
Felt good to be back in Canada and perform in the same venue I’ve been singing before. I am also expecting to have a great time tonight in Toronto with my fans and band.
We just finished the sound check in Toronto. We used the chance to rehearse some “old-new” songs that we will add to the set list from Mexico on.
I just hope I can soon get rid of the immense neck pain that I have at the moment, because of the head banging…always after the first shows the neck is on fire

I’m sad because I can’t make it to your concert in Chicago. I’m 16 right now, but you have to be 17 to get in. (But they said that you picked the youngest age that you could for admittance into the concert). So, I’ll have to be content with watching the videos of your tour. And hopefully you’ll be back around in the US doing a tour for your new CD when I’m finally old enough to get into the House of Blues!

Wow Tarja!It’s awesome u have so much fun!I hope u &the funs have a great time!Lol,the photos R great!I know what u mean about the neck pain, aouts!Happens to all in sooo many concerts.I use a “heating” cream which smells terribly, but it is miraculous!Really!I suggest u go to a pharmacie &ask for sth like that..it warms up the tightened muscles&that’s how they “relax”&the pain goes away!Anyway,I saw u in ’07&in ’08,I guess i’ll be in ur concert in ’10 now cheering for WLB!Can’t wait for it!

it’s nice to see you perform live again with such passion and energy (the best immune defense!), I’m sure everything will be fine for the next shows.
May I ask you to be very careful with your health and specially about that headbanging stuff. For holding the cervical vertebrae, the neck is a very strategic and vulnerable area that really can have lasting disastrous effects on our general health if mistreated.
Usually, headaches and cervical pain are bad symptoms that mean you should stop, at least for a while. You can try also to decrease the range of head and neck motion, and don’t hesitate to warm-up your neck before each show and have some massage afterwards.
Your cervical vertebrae are as important as your vocal cords for your work, and life.
Anyway, I hope you already know all that as the great artist and professional your are, sorry to play the doctor on your blog.

After reading all the great reviews of the NY, Montreal and Toronto shows I just have to come see you in LA. Ever since the first time I heard your voice I have been addicted. I live in Seattle, WA but I bought a ticket to the LA Show and purchased air fare and hotel this evening. This will be the furthest I have ever traveled to a concert by at least 1000 miles! I am so stoked though. I will be hanging around Hollywood and Beverly Hills waiting to see the greatest female voice in metal history. Friday night is going to be so awesome. I have seen some videos of your shows in Montréal and NYC. You sound better than ever dear!
Watching these vids and hearing your voice gives me goosebumps (In a good way
) and it makes me want to come see you even more! but I need to be patient for now. As it seems now, I will see you again in september, at the Elf Fantasy Fair, and in October at the Metal Female Voices Fest 7. And I know that it will all be worth the wait! But maybe sooner… I hope.

First there are “2 years”, then you corrected this to “1 year”. You performed live less than 6 months ago, so nobody knows what was it:) I could only suppose my bad English to catch it.

Hello Tarja,
I’m in Florida and will being coming to your show in CA. For me this is a very special trip as I’ll get to see my 1 yr and 2 yr old nieces, spend Mother’s Day with my grandmother AND get to see you too! I can’t describe to you how exciting this is to me and how lucky and fortunate I feel and am happy you are part of it.

Come on. Let’s see what will be the next big flu, when a new war ou a new economy crash happen. This is part of the great paranoia market. Normal flu kills more people in one month than this “pigflu” killed all this time.
Make people paranoid, i’ts the goal. And they reach it. And paranoia makes people sick too.
Of course was easier to show a avian flu epidemy in orient than a war in Iraq and the USA government selling death in those countries. And this is not that nice show all the time those big economies fucked up. But when all this is over, we will hear that this virus wasn’t that dangerous at all.
But let’s wait the next time they want to give an up to the arm market, creat another excuse for a new war and creat another super changing virus to divert the focus of the people. Maybe a cowflu. Poor little cows.
But, Tarja, when you’re in Mexico take care for the pigs don’t sneeze in you. lol Ok, it’s a joke. Have fun, and bring fun for the people. The happiness virus is contagious but is a nice virus. hehe

Many thanks again Tarja for visiting the U.S. and New York City. I am embarassed for us symphonic metal fans here in the States for not having a bigger crowd at the Fillmore, as only 400 tickets were sold. Your performance was spectacular nonetheless, and I did not detect any mistakes even though I have a very critical ear (I am a former professional bassist). I can only blame this on the fact that symphonic metal is not well known in the U.S.; it is not played on radio stations, nor is it played on satellite. And, there is only a single U.S. artist of this genre who has achieved any prominence, that being Amy Lee of Evanescence. I will continue to be your biggest U.S. fan, and tell others about you. Hey Tarja!
I saw your concert last night in Los Angeles and it blew me away! You were incredible! I have never felt so energetic listening to someone sing heavy songs and I have never felt so at peace when listening to a ballad. Your versatility is amazing. You made that small stage seem huge!
Seeing you perform live has been a dream of mine since I became a Nightwish fan and it finally came true. That concert will be a night I will always remember! You are so incredibly talented! I hope to see you again when you tour with your next album!

As I said before, you must listen to Pink Floyd’s album: The Division Bell!!! There are some songs who I really really love, and those songs means so much to me: Lost For Words, Coming Back To Life, and High Hopes. Especially the first two I mentioned, makes me cry every time I hear it. They bring back memories of the hard times in my life. Please Tarja, Listen to those 2 songs!!!
